Library Instruction

Library Instruction/Orientation

Library Instruction/Orientation is offered to classes that have assignments requiring the use of scholarly peer reviewed academic resources from the Library and/or its online databases. The Instruction/Orientation is general but can be adapted to meet the needs of the individual course and/or the assignment requiring Library research.

English 101 and 102 Instructors are encouraged to arrange Library Instruction/Orientation with a Librarian, at least 2 weeks in advance, for classes (day and evening) requiring the use of scholarly peer reviewed academic resources and bibliographic citations from the Library and its online databases. The 20 to 30 minute session will educate students on how to access the Library resources available in print and online collections which includes database access through Calhoun Community College Libraries and the Alabama Virtual Library.

Online Library Instruction/Orientation

Instructional Videos/Online Tutorials, and eReference Guides for several of the online databases are available from the Calhoun Library Website.  Access to Library resources are also available through Blackboard.  Off campus access to databases require the same login as your MyCalhoun username/password.
To schedule Library Instruction/Orientation for a class, please call, email, or come by the reference desk.

For Distance Learning Classes, introductions to the Calhoun Libraries, Instructional Videos and Database Tutorials are located on the Calhoun Library's Youtube Channel. Database eReference guides are located on the Library's Guides Webpage.
